APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A Fox Valley brat fry raised more than double its goal for Old Glory Honor Flight, thanks to a large community turnout.
Each Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. the Appleton American Legion Post 38 hosts popular Brat Frys on their grounds at 3220 W. College Avenue in Appleton. Proceeds from those weekly events that occur through October benefit the Appleton American Legion Post 38’s programs which support local veterans and their families.
On Wednesday, the Appleton American Legion Post 38 extended the hours of their weekly Brat Fry to be from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and redirected all of the proceeds from that day’s efforts to the Old Glory Honor Flight.
The goal was to exceed the amount that was raised at its 2024 event for Old Glory Honor Flight, which was $7,000.
It ended up raising $16,000.
The community can continue to support their veterans through the weekly brat fries that occur through October.
