DE PERE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A project that’s expected to change the landscape of De Pere is breaking ground.
Work began on the new TownePlace Suites by Marriott hotel at the former Shopko site on W. Wisconsin Street Wednesday.
Shopko closed its doors nearly six years ago and the 60,000-square-foot building was cleared away a more than a year ago.
The five-story, 90-room hotel is part of a larger development plan for the site that will include a 60-unit apartment building with retail space and a parking ramp.
