GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Hype around the upcoming Green Bay Packers’ football season has been building over the last several weeks of training camp, and even since April’s NFL Draft.
But ticket sales for the Packers’ first preseason game against the New Yet Jets at Lambeau Field aren’t reflecting that excitement.
So, if you’ve ever wanted to go to a Packers game without completely emptying your wallet, now’s your chance.
“We have tickets as cheap as $10, and they go up to $60, which traditionally, preseason is cheap normally, but this is excessively cheap,” says Ticket King manager Travis Loftus.
Ticketmaster resale prices are even lower. Some seats in the stadium’s lower bowl can be bought for as low as $7.02.
Ticket resellers like Loftus say preseason popularity is low.
“We seem to see more people gravitating towards buying Family Night over preseason tickets, whether it’s because of the fireworks or it’s more of a family-oriented deal,” Loftus says.
“They also brought their bikes today, and they both got picked to ride their bikes,” says Debbie Mokszycke about her grandchildren at Packers training camp Wednesday morning.
Mokszycke’s family came from Escanaba, Michigan, for Packers training camp and will be leaving with plenty of memories. But the preseason game isn’t one they’re sticking around for.
“If I were to go, it would be to take the grandkids to it. The reason we don’t go is that they don’t play their top line a lot, so the games I just feel aren’t that exciting to go to until the regular season,” Mokszycke says.
Loftus says tickets for the Packers’ second home preseason game Aug. 23 against the Seattle Seahawks are selling at more normal prices, and quicker, too. Loftus hopes to see interest in the Jets game grow the closer we get to Saturday.
