Wildfire smoke from Canada creates hazy conditions and poor air quality in Green Bay May 30, 2025. PC: Fox 11 Online
(WTAQ) — The Wisconsin DNR has again extended the air quality alert until noon Wednesday for many Wisconsin counties, including all of Northeast Wisconsin.
The air quality index is at the ‘unhealthy for sensitive groups’ level due to smoke from the ongoing Canadian wildfires. Sensitive groups can include children, the elderly, people with certain medical conditions, etc.
The National Weather Service in Green Bay says that it is okay for people in sensitive groups to be active outdoors; so long as they take breaks, make activities shorter, and watch for symptoms like coughing or shortness of breath.
People with asthma should follow their asthma action plan and keep quick relief medicine handy.
People with heart disease should monitor for symptoms such as palpitations, shortness of breath, or unusual fatigue.
