Collyn Jorgenson has been charged with first-degreereckless homicide, first-degree reckless injury, and obstruction on August 4, 2025 (Shawano County/Zoom).
SHAWANO, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A motorist was driving at more than 100 mph just before a crash which killed one of his passengers and injured another, a prosecutor said Monday.
Collyn Jorgenson, 18, was charged Monday with first-degree reckless homicide, first-degree reckless injury, and obstruction for the June 19 crash.
Judge William Kussel set a $80,000 cash bond at an initial appearance. Jorgenson returns to court Aug. 11 for a preliminary hearing.
The crash happened about 6 p.m. in the town of Seneca.
At times before the crash, Jorgenson’s speed reached 120 mph, and was at about 101 mph at the time of the crash, District Attorney Greg Parker said. Jorgenson allegedly lost control, struck a rock, went airborne for more than 100’, before landing on the roof, Parker said.
A 14-year-old was killed and a 15-year-old was injured, he said.
Jorgenson initially claimed someone else was driving, Parker said.
The county also issued 14 citations against Jorgenson, including for allegations of unsafe lane deviation, having cracked windshield, failure to wear a seat belt, failure to keep vehicle under control, tire tread depth, and violating the absolute sobriety law. All are scheduled for a Sept. 11 hearing, court records show.
