GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Green Bay is moving forward with plans to sell the home belonging to the man known as “Uncle Fester,” who faces a litany of drug charges.
Stephen Preisler, 67, gained renown under the name “Uncle Fester” for his books on how to make ricin, methamphetamine and other drugs. In July 2023, he was charged with multiple drug manufacturing and delivery counts after items were seized from his home. Since then, additional charges, including drug possession and bail jumping, have been added. He maintains the substances in question are legal.
As part of the process, a court ordered an injunction closing his home, 826 S. Baird Street, clearing the way for it to be sold.
According to court documents filed Wednesday, the city is now working with prospective buyers to inspect the site.
“The Parties shall work together to arrange a mutually acceptable time to open the Building for viewing by third-parties interested in purchasing the property as well as appropriate City staff,” the order states.
Given the history of drug use in the home, there will be health precautions in place.
“That anyone entering into the building shall follow all recommendations of the Brown County Health Department regarding personal protective equipment required when within the building at the time of entry. Currently the required personal protective equipment consists of shoe covers and N95 masks,” the order states.
Preisler will not be present for the showings.
The court order does not say when the showings will be, or what the asking price may be.
According to Brown County records, the property is assessed at $93,900.
Preisler’s trial in Brown County is scheduled for Oct. 7.
