GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — It’s been almost one month since a major outage at Cellcom began as a result of a cyber incident, which affected the ability to make phone calls and send text messages.
While service appears to have mostly been restored, many customers, as well as social media users, are still reporting service issues.
“It is very frustrating knowing I’m paying a lot of money a month for myself, my daughter’s and my wife’s phone, and they don’t work,” Green Bay Rebuilders owner Royce Jahnke said.
Disappointment is a common feeling among Cellcom customers, as many are still dealing with dropped phone calls, calls with no audio and call disconnections, creating obstacles for many.
“I’ll get a phone call or make a phone call and get about five to 15 seconds in, and then the call just goes silent. The timer on the phone still says that it’s connected — there’s still a call active, but there’s no audio,” Jahnke said.
Jahnke gets a lot of daily phone calls for his business, but has noticed over the past couple weeks that three to five calls per day are cutting out from customers.
It’s ultimately creating a headache that won’t seem to go away — and possibly even costing him money.
“It stops me from doing what I’m doing, where I’m spending a bunch of time just answering calls and not actually getting to the point of the people calling, so yeah, it’s been a little annoying,” Jahnke said.
Other Cellcom customers are dealing with much of the same issues. One user says none of their lines could make calls. Cellcom responded to them by saying they’re currently experiencing a minor outage, and they’re working to have it resolved.
Another customer said they were recently in a car crash and left unable to call for help.
“I tried to call my family members and I just kept getting ‘call won’t go through, call won’t go through,'” Cellcom customer Brian Jackson said. “I was finally getting through on one call, after I tried about six people. I got through to my nephew, which he had to leave work.”
Jackson said he has multiple calls drop per day. While he’s glad everyone is safe after the incident, he wishes his Cellcom phone would be reliable once again — especially after nearly a month of intermittent issues.
“I just hope I can make a phone call and it not drop… I just want problems fixed,” Jackson said.
