GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A Great Lakes cruise ship dropped anchor in Green Bay Tuesday.
The city rolled out the welcome wagon for passengers of the Victory II cruise ship at Leicht Memorial Park. It’s the ship’s first stop in the city since 2023.
The cruise ship, formerly named Ocean Navigator and operated by American Queen Voyages, brought with it nearly 200 passengers and more than 80 crew members.
During their stop, passengers spent the day on excursions to Green Bay Botanical Garden, the National Railroad Museum and Lambeau Field.
To celebrate the return of the ship, a plaque exchange ceremony was celebrated between Green Bay mayor Eric Genrich, Discover Green Bay President and CEO Brad Toll and the ship’s captain.
“We always look at people to come in on a ship like this as an opportunity for them to come back and see us again on a vacation where they can spend more time here and certainly they become ambassadors when they’re experience is good in our community, they tell others about Green Bay and encourage others to come and visit us,” said Toll.
The Victory II will dock again later this month on June 24-25 and is also scheduled to return in 2026 as part of Victory Cruise Lines’ future Great Lakes itineraries.
