Mark Snider (Fond du Lac Co. Jail)
FOND DU LAC (WTAQ-WLUK) – Mark Snider pleaded not guilty Monday for charges related to a fatal crash. No trial date was set.
Snider, 68, is charged with second-degree reckless homicide and recklessly endangering safety for the March 28 crash which killed Elijah Sowin.
He returns to court July 24 for a possible plea and sentencing, court records show.
Police said Snider “intentionally swerved” his vehicle into the path of a motorcycle.
After collecting and assessing evidence and interviewing witnesses, investigators determined, “the driver of the passenger vehicle intentionally swerved into the path of the motorcyclist, causing the motorcycle to crash into the driver’s side of the vehicle.”
Snider, the driver of the vehicle, was then arrested. Chief Aaron Goldstein said in a news release:
“This was not an accident, but a deliberate and dangerous act that led directly to the death of a young man from our greater Fond du Lac community. Reckless driving, especially actions intended to harm or endanger others will not be tolerated. This tragedy could have been avoided. We are dedicated to ensuring that those responsible for crimes that endanger public safety are held accountable for their actions. Our thoughts remain with the victim’s family and friends during this difficult time.”
