(GREEN BAY ATHLETICS) – Green Bay men’s golf grad George Kneiser has qualified for the US Open after his performance at the Duke University Golf Club in Durham, N.C., on June 2. He’s going to be the first Green Bay golf grad to play in the US Open, which will be held at Oakmont Country Club in Pennsylvania.
He’s been playing in the Asian PGA Tour this season; prior to that, he was in the America’s PGA Tour.
Harrison Ott (Vanderbilt) and Kneiser are the first Wisconsin golfers to reach the U.S. Open via Final Qualifying since Osceola’s Charlie Danielson made it in 2019 at Pebble Beach (Calif.) Golf Links. It is the first time that two golfers from Wisconsin have survived Final Qualifying in the same year since 2017 when Madison’s Steve Stricker and Mequon’s Jordan Niebrugge made it to Erin Hills that way.
