OUTAGAMIE COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — $3.2 million originally earmarked for UW-Oshkosh Fox Cities may soon be used for improving aging systems in Outagamie County.
The county’s finance committee discussing the plan Tuesday with Finance Director Michelle Uitenbroek.
“We want to re-allocate the funds to purchase a new ERP [Enterprise Resource Planning] Human Capital Management System that is going to benefit the entire county,” Uitenbroek said.
The ERP System will hopefully streamline processes.
We have separate systems for our financial, our payroll, our time and attendance, our budgeting, our receipting and our storage system. We want to combine that all into one system.”
Uitenbroek said as of now, workers waste time updating every system individually. It’s time, she says, could be better used elsewhere.
“It would help us with more forecasting for budgets and projections that we need,” she explained. “All of our budgets are really tight right now, so we need to use every available dollar that we can in the best way that we can.”
Outagamie County Executive Tom Nelson says the $3.2 million would be covering a portion of the cost to implement the program.
The cost of the whole project?
“About $3-5 million,” Nelson said. “Of course, a really big number. But to put that into context, that is about roughly 1-2% of our annual budget.”
Uitenbroek explained the rest would come from other capital funds which have been gathered through sales tax, meaning no direct burden to taxpayers.
