SHAWANO, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Sturgeon spawning activity has made its way to the Shawano Dam.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources says the fish are expected to continue spawning below the dam through the weekend.
Elsewhere on the Wolf River, sturgeon are spawning at the Sturgeon Trail in New London and Bamboo Bend in Shiocton.
Sturgeon are also visible on the upper Fox River at the Princeton Dam and on the Peshtigo River at the Peshtigo Dam.
In De Pere, some sturgeon have been spotted in the shallow water downstream of the walleye deck in Voyageur Park, but no fish are actively spawning.
Check the DNR’s website for updates throughout the spawning run.
