Oshkosh Fire Department (Fox 11 Online)
OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A person died in an Oshkosh fire over the weekend.
Crews were dispatched to a structure fire at 1634 Burdick Street just before 12:30 p.m. Sunday.
The first crews on the scene reported heavy smoke and fire coming from the home.
Neighbors told crews that two people live in the home but their whereabouts were unknown.
One of the residents was found during the initial search, before the fire was controlled, and was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The other resident was not home at the time of the fire.
The home sustained heavy smoke and fire damage.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
