APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — One of Appleton’s largest annual events will be a part of NFL Draft week, just on a smaller scale.
Downtown Appleton will play host to “SongWalk” which mimics the four-day Mile of Music festival held each summer.
“We thought it would be kind of cool to have a handful of venues that had some original music,” said Dave Willems, one of the organizers of Mile of Music and SongWalk. “One of the things we’re most known for is original music, and just the overall music scene.”
SongWalk will feature two hours of live music, from nine performers at six venues, starting at 7 p.m. April 23. Check out the full schedule:
- Clubhouse Kitchen & Bar: Tom Thiel Trio
- Copper Rock Coffee: Christopher Gold
- The General Store: Karli Reisdorf (of Natural Satellite), Kyle Megna
- Gibson Community Music Hall: Soultru, Cassie & Maggie
- Good Company: Amelia Ford, Tyler SJ with Molly Levine
- Stone Arch Brewpub: Eric W. Krueger & Marty Paschke (Leading the Blind Duo)
“[It’s] a chance to give [visitors] a little bit of a taste of what happens every summer when we have Mile of Music,” said Willems.
The city is taking full advantage of the influx of NFL fans throughout the week after SongWalk on Wednesday. Appleton is operating a shuttle to get fans to and from the draft Thursday and Friday. The service is open to visitors and locals beginning Tuesday.
Fans can also head to various restaurants and bars around the area hosting watch parties. Neenah will conclude the draft weekend with a light projection display on Saturday night.
“We’re very excited to showcase all of Northeastern Wisconsin on a national, and really even an international stage,” said Cathy Trebatoski, marketing communication director at the Fox Cities Convention & Visitors Bureau.
