MANITOWOC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A woman is in custody and Manitowoc police say they are looking for a male after a shot was fired late Sunday night.
Around 11:44 p.m. Sunday, officers responded to the area of 1600 Galax Drive after a witnesses reported his neighbor pounded on his window, saying she stole weapons from someone who tried to kill her.
Upon arrival, officers found a firearm and evidence it was used.
According to the police report, officers made contact with the woman who said she fired a round into the air behind her residence because she wanted a male to get out of her house.
Security footage gathered by police show a male running away from the woman, with a gun a pointed at him.
The male has not been located or identified at this time.
A drone and K9 officer were called to search the area but could not locate the male.
Based on the woman’s statements, police took her into custody on recommended charges of disorderly conduct and first-degree recklessly endangering safety.
If you live in the area of the 1600 block of Galax Drive and have a home surveillance camera, police ask you review your footage from 11:30 p.m. – 11:45 p.m. on Sunday. If you notice any people or vehicles within that time frame, specifically a male wearing a dark shirt and jeans running, and/or have a recording of a loud noise, such as a gunshot, call the Shift Commander at (920) 686-6551 and reference case number 2025-00003830.
At this time, the investigation is still ongoing. Police say there is no threat to the community.
