GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – There are three options for the name of the new elementary school being built on Green Bay’s west side and one of them includes a Packers legend.
Construction of the new school will begin in April or May on the same property that includes Kennedy Elementary School.
According to a school district memo, a naming committee is moving forward with the following potential names for the school:
- Bart Starr Elementary (Alternates: Bart and Cherry Starr Elementary, Star Elementary)
- Bright Horizons Elementary (Alternate: Horizon Elementary)
- Creekside Elementary (Alternate: Creekview Elementary)
The committee is asking the school board to approve one of the three recommended names or four alternate names for the school at its April 28th meeting.
The new school is the centerpiece of a $183 million referendum that 66% of voters supported in November.
For the 2026-’27 school year, three elementary schools will consolidate into the new single-story building.
