SHIOCTON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A little more than a week after winter storms covered Northeast Wisconsin in ice, snow and rain, the meltwater and runoff are leading to flooding along the Wolf River in Shiocton.
Police Chief Sara Knapp says the river crested on Saturday and the water level has been going down since. The National Water Prediction Service shows the river was at 11.26 feet at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday. Flood stage is 11 feet. It is forecast to fall under 11 feet Wednesday night or Thursday morning.
The Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office imposed a slow-no-wake order on all waterways in the county — including the Wolf River in Shiocton — on April 1.
Authorities in Shiocton have been monitoring the situation to see if sandbags would be needed, but they have not been needed yet.
