(UW ATHLETICS/LEARFIELD) MADISON – Bookfield native Andrew Rohde has signed with the Wisconsin men’s basketball program, head coach Greg Gard announced on Sunday.
Rohde arrives at UW after spending two seasons at Virginia and a year at St. Thomas. He joins the Badgers with one year of eligibility remaining.
“Bringing Andrew back to Wisconsin is a win-win,” Gard said. “Great opportunity for him to play close to home and our fans will love cheering for him. He’s had a chance to play at different levels, showing off his offensive ability starting at St. Thomas and then earning his defensive degree at Virginia we respect so much. Now he gets to put those together at a Wisconsin program that he’s been familiar with since he was a little kid. He’s a big guard that has played in a lot of big games and we’re excited to have him back home for his senior season.”
“Playing for Wisconsin means a lot to me,” Rohde said. “Getting the chance to compete at a high level in front of my family, for a program I’ve always admired, is something I’m truly thankful for. I’m ecstatic to be a part of Badger nation and can’t wait to get on the court in front of one of the best atmospheres in college basketball.”
Rohde averaged 9.3 points. 4.3 assists and 2.9 rebounds per game while starting 26 of 30 games last year at Virginia. His 2.4 assist/turnover radio ranked fifth in the ACC while his 4.3 assists per game ranked seventh. The guard shot 43.2 percent from the field and 41.3 percent from beyond the arc. Rohde had 14 games where he collected double-digit points, including a season-high 17 points against Florida State on March 4, 2025.
In his sophomore year with the Cavaliers, Rohde started 27 of 33 games, averaging 4.3 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.8 rebounds. His best showing came against No. 14 Texas A&M where he had 13 points, 6 boards and 3 dimes.
Rohde was named the Summit League Freshman of the Year and was named to the All-Summit League First Team during his freshman year. He averaged 17.1 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.7 steals as he started all 31 games for the Tommies. A Kyle Macy Freshman of the Year Award finalist, he shot 44.8 percent from the field and 81.5 percent from the charity stripe.
