(ST. NORBERT COMMUNICATIONS) DE PERE – St. Norbert College fell twice to Aurora University in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference doubleheader, being outdone by scores of 6-2 and 16-4 in two games at Jim Schmid Field.
The Green Knights (6-14, 1-7 NACC) held early leads in both contests, but lengthy scoring runs by Aurora doomed St. Norbert.
Dawson Schmidt (pictured) opened the first game of the afternoon with a solo home run in the second inning, his first in his St. Norbert career. The Spartans responded with three runs in the third to take a 3-1 lead, with runs coming off two doubles and one triple. St. Norbert got back on the scoreboard in the fourth, with Trevor Reinhardt scoring on a Spartans error. Aurora added two more runs on a home run in the sixth and had one more in the eighth.
A.J. Kisting had two hits, going 2-for-4. Reinhardt took the loss, pitching 5 2/3 innings and allowing 10 hits and five runs.
In the second game, the Green Knights opened the contest with four runs in the first three innings, three of which came in the first inning. Singles from Reinhardt, Schmidt and Zach Bostrand in the first scored three runs, while another from Bostrand in the third scored Reinhardt.
The Spartans then went on to score 16 runs to settle the game.
Bostrand finished with three hits and two RBIs, while Reinhardt had two hits and one RBI. Jace Midbon took the loss, pitching three innings and striking out three.
