(GREEN BAY ATHLETICS) GREEN BAY – The Green Bay softball team split their Saturday doubleheader against the IU Indy Jaguars, falling in game one 6-4 before winning game two by a score of 10-4. The offense came alive late for GB, as they tacked on three runs in game two’s fifth inning, and six more in the sixth.
GAME 1 | IU INDY 6, GREEN BAY 4
IU Indy started the scoring on Saturday, picking up runs in the first and third innings to take an early 2-0 lead. However, the Phoenix responded with a big third inning, after a bases-loaded two RBI double from Sara Ebner tied the game. The next at-bat Sidney LaMotte brought home another run with a single through the left side to give GB a 3-2 lead heading into the fourth.
That lead held until the top of the seventh when the Jaguars retook the lead with a two-run seventh off of Phoenix starter Ava Schill. GB would force extras after Kendal Herschbach drove in Marissa Destache to make it 4-4.
The Jags once again had an answer late, bringing across two runs in the top of the eighth and shutting the Phoenix down in the bottom half to take the game on 6-4.
Schill pitched all eight innings in game one, allowing three earned runs on 15 IU Indy hits. At the plate, GB was led by Ebner, who finished 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored. Gianna Camacho and Bella Herman also finished the game 2-for-3 at the dish.

GAME 2 | GREEN BAY 10, IU INDY 4
Five Green Bay players recorded multiple hits to help lead the Phoenix past the IU Indianapolis Jaguars 10-4 in game two.
The Phoenix put runs on the scoreboard first, starting the scoring in the second inning thanks to Brooke Schwall’s RBI double with one out.
The Jaguars then rallied to score one run in the third and two runs in the fourth to and take a 3-1 lead before the Phoenix got back on the board in the fifth. GB scored three runs after an RBI single from Paige Hanson and an RBI sac fly that also forced an errant throw, which gave the Phoenix a 4-3 lead.
The Green & White offense exploded in the sixth inning with six runs to take a 10-3 lead. Jenna Redders started the scoring in the frame with an RBI double, followed by RBI hits from Sidney LaMotte, Hanson, Schwall, and Claire Coushman.
Phoenix starter Paeton Kringel (2-3) gave up one run in the seventh and then shut down the IU Indy threat to secure the win. The right-hander went seven innings, giving up four runs, all of them earned, on 10 hits, allowing three walks and striking out six.
The five Phoenix that finished with multiple hits were Redders, LaMotte, Hanson, Schwall, and Bella Herman. Schwall went 2-for-3 with three RBI and a walk.
