(MARQUETTE COMMUNICATIONS) NEW YORK – Marquette University men’s lacrosse men’s lacrosse junior goalie Lucas Lawas is on the BIG EAST Conference Weekly Honor Roll, it was announced on Monday afternoon.
Lawas posted a career-best 17 saves in the double overtime loss to then-No. 14 Georgetown on Saturday with a .630 save percentage. Marquette’s defense held the Golden Eagles in contention late in the game by allowing just one score in the final 18:54 of regulation. Lawas made a save in each extra period and four in the fourth quarter.
The native of Horseheads, New York has 62 saves over the last five games with a .543 save percentage. In two career contests against ranked Georgetown squads, Lawas has made a combined 32 saves in a pair of overtime losses.
The recognition is the second weekly accolade of the season for Lawas, who also earned the honor on March 24 for MU’s 9-8 win over Air Force.
The Golden Eagles hit the road next to take on Providence on Saturday, April 12. Face-off is slated for 10 a.m. Central time at Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium.
