GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Brown County is helping the community prepare for severe weather.
Brown County Executive Troy Streckenbach proclaimed the week of April 7-11 as Tornado and Severe Weather Awareness Week in Brown County.
During a news conference Monday, officials encouraged people to be prepared, make a plan and to stay informed when severe weather strikes.
Families should make a plan for what to do when severe weather happens. They should designate a safe space in their home to go when when a tornado warning is issued and have emergency kits prepared.

Residents can practice their readiness during statewide tornado drills Thursday.
Wisconsin averages 23 tornadoes each year. In 2024, the National Weather Service (NWS) confirmed 45 tornadoes in the state, the third highest documented number of tornadoes. This includes 22 from the month of May, 18 of which touched down on May 21.
