PC: Town of Peshtigo Fire Department
MARINETTE COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — DNR firefighters responded to reports of a grass and brush fire along Harbor Road in the Peshtigo Harbor Wildlife area on Sunday.
Responders arrived to the scene around 10:30 am Sunday morning and quickly distinguished the fire. There was no further spread into the dry marsh.
Town of Peshtigo Fire Department warns that fire conditions change rapidly this time of year.
“In spite of all the recent rain and snow, all it takes is a day of sun and wind to dry out grass and lighter fuels. Be sure to access the DNR website or WISBurn daily to check the fire danger and burning restrictions before planning any outdoor burning or activities.”
