(WTAQ) – Voters in Wisconsin will now be required under the state constitution to present a valid photo ID to vote in elections.
Previously, Wisconsin voters needed a valid photo ID to vote as required by state law; now it’s part of Wisconsin’s state constitution.
The amendment makes it more difficult for a future legislature or court to challenge Wisconsin voter ID laws.
The approval is a win for Republicans; who largely supported the referendum.
60.3% of Wisconsin voters supported the referendum.
