Jill Underly. PC: Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction
(WTAQ) — Jill Underly has secured another term as Wisconsin’s State Superintendent of Public Instruction.
She defeated opponent Brittany Kinser, who was supported by the Republican Party of Wisconsin. Underly ran with support from the Wisconsin Democratic Party and teachers’ unions.
Underly faced criticism from her opponent and Republicans for lowering educational standards for K-12 Wisconsin students in her first term.
However, during her campaign, Underly touted that under her leadership in her first term, Wisconsin achieved the highest graduation rates in state history, reaching 90.5% and Wisconsin is now in the Top 3 nationally.
