(WTAQ-WLUK) — The Community Blood Center (CBC) is calling on the entire community to respond to a dangerously low blood supply.
Community members of all blood types are asked to schedule a donation immediately as patients battling cancer, undergoing surgeries, facing life-threatening emergencies and more rely on donated blood, but right now, supplies are critically low.
Every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood, yet only about 3% of eligible Americans donate annually.
“Each time you give blood you give the gift of life,” said John Hagins, President & CEO, The Community Blood Center. “There is no substitute for donated blood. It can’t be made or manufactured. It can only come from a generous volunteer donor. Help restore the blood supply to support local hospital patients by donating as soon as possible.”
Saving lives can be very rewarding for donors, and as a token of appreciation, CBC is also rewarding donors through Lifesaver Rewards. All donors can join by opting in to earn points throughout the donation process. Points are redeemable for gratitude gifts, including gift cards, movie ticket vouchers and CBC merchandise.
To schedule a donation, visit communityblood.org, use the CBC Donor App or call (800) 280-4102. Every donation at a CBC Donor Center or CBC mobile blood drive brings hope to local hospital patients and their loved ones.
