GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — When travelers land at Green Bay Austin Straubel International Airport (GRB) during the next few months, they will get a glimpse into the culture and history of northeast Wisconsin.
The airport has partnered with the Oneida Nations Art Program to install 22 art pieces across the airport.
The work is from eight indigenous artists from the Oneida community, and includes acrylic paintings, historical photos, beadwork, sculptures, basketry, and textiles.
Each design shows off a unique story to each artist. The artists selected for the program were the 2024 Woodland Indian Art Show & Market winners, as well as Oneida’s 2024 National Treasures.
GRB Airport Director Marty Piette hopes the initiative helps locals and visitors alike explore northeast Wisconsin’s rich history, while also promoting local artists.
The GRB Art Program gives us the chance to promote local artists, and the Oneida Nation is one of the amazing partners eager to highlight their beautiful work.
The artwork was installed at the beginning of March and will remain on display during the 2025 NFL Draft.
