(ST. NORBERT COMMUNICATIONS) DE PERE – St. Norbert College fell in its home opener in two games against Concordia University Chicago, falling by scores of 9-1 and 5-1 in a doubleheader at Van Alstine Field.
The Green Knights (5-11) fell behind by five runs after two innings but got on the board thanks to a Dawson Schmidt single RBI that scored Devin Geary in the third inning. The Cougars then scored four unanswered runs to take the opening game of the afternoon.
Geary, Schmidt and Carson Krumrei (pictured) all recorded multi-hit games, each recording two hits. Jace Midbon took the loss, pitching six innings and allowing six hits and seven runs with one strikeout and three walks.
In the second game, the Green Knights took their first lead of the afternoon in the first inning, as a Matt Perry single scored Devin Geary.
St. Norbert kept the Cougars scoreless until they tied the game at 1-1 in the fourth. Concordia Chicago then took the lead back for good with three runs in the sixth inning and one more in the ninth to take the sweep.
Geary, Perry, Bostrand, Krumrei and Evan Calderon accounted for the five St. Norbert hits, with all of them recording one hit.
Trevor Reinhardt took the loss, pitching 5 1/3 innings and allowing seven hits and four runs with three walks.
