MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WRN) — As expected, Governor Tony Evers has vetoed a bill dealing with testing standards in Wisconsin’s K-12 schools.
The Republican authored legislation would have reset state report card standards to levels set in the 2019-20 school year, align grades 3-8 with national standards, and restore high school testing standards to levels set in the 2021-22 school year.
It also would require DPI to bring back the previous terms for pupil performance assessments.
Republican lawmakers argue those changes made it more difficult to track student performance.
Evers had previously signaled his intention to veto the bill.
