Manchester University 8, Lawrence 1
CLERMONT, Fla. — The Lawrence University softball team fell 8-1 to Manchester University on Tuesday in a nonconference game Legends Field.
Manchester (7-4) led 3-1 before pulling away with four runs in the fourth inning.
Lawrence (4-10) was limited to six hits with Zoe Doherty and Gillian Guerriero both picking up a double for the Vikings.
Georgia Sedlack made the start for Lawrence and allowed 10 hits while picking up two strikeouts and two walks over the first four innings.
Lawrence gets the day off Wednesday and returns to action Thursday with games against UW-Oshkosh and Oberlin College.
Willamette 18, Lawrence 5
CLERMONT, Fla. — The Lawrence University softball team dropped an 18-5 nonconference decision to Willamette University in six innings on Tuesday at Legends Field.
The Bearcats jumped on Lawrence with four runs in the first and four more in the second. Willamette (9-6) closed the game out with seven runs in the sixth inning.
Lawrence scored twice in the third and added three more runs in the fifth.
Taylor Hughes went 2-for-3 with a double and three runs batted in for the Vikings (4-9). Janessa Gonzalez also went 2-for-3, and Jordan Wallin-Swanson picked up a double for Lawrence.
Avery Chilson made the start and took the loss for Lawrence. She allowed eight hits over two innings, struck out two and didn’t walk a batter.
Willamette finished with 21 hits in the contest.
