Hunter Kamrath (Fond du Lac Co. Jail)
FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Hunter Kamrath faces attempted homicide and other charges after allegedly repeatedly stomping on his landlord’s head during an argument last week, according to charges filed Friday.
Kamrath, 39, also faces four counts of first-degree reckless injury and four counts of aggravated battery for the March 11 incident in the town of Auburn. A $1 million cash bond was set, court records show. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 28.
According to the criminal complaint, Kamrath called police to report the fight between he and the landlord. Kamrath said he was locked out of his residence. When was let in, the landlord pulled a knife on him, then “pushed him and attempted to slam his head into a staircase. Kamrath stated a scuffle took place and Victim 1 attempted to throw him over a railing leading into the basement. Kamrath admitted to the Fond du Lac County Communications Center he threw Victim 1 over the railing instead, and Victim 1 struck his head.”
However, surveillance video did not match Kamrath’s story.
“In the video, the defendant is seen stomping with force on the head of Victim 1 numerous time while Victim 1 is virtually motionless and defenseless. The defendant is also observed placing a knife near Victim 1’s body,” the complaint states.
The victim suffered “a subdural hematoma, subarachnoid hematoma, penetrating wounds to the right upper eyelid, chin, right cheek, right ear, and rib fractures of the 7th and 8th ribs,” according to the complaint.
Police were familiar with both due to numerous landlord-tenant issues in the last year.
