GRAND CHUTE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — After more than 44 years in law enforcement, Grand Chute’s police chief is retiring.
Chief Greg Peterson was appointed Grand Chute police chief on April 21, 2010.
Before that he was on the Appleton Police Department for nearly 30 years.
Chief Peterson shared, “[m]y tenure as chief has been the pinnacle of a career that has spanned more than 44 years and my decision to leave the position has been extremely difficult to make. When the PFC offered this amazing opportunity in 2010, they also offered their support for my belief that the path to building a great organization was to hire employees based on the strength of their character. Since that day, we have never looked back. The GCPD team has consistently endeavored to deliver exceptional service with an overarching goal of protecting life and property, while also striving to enhance the overall quality of life in the Town of Grand Chute. Without a doubt, the successes we have experienced over the past 15 years can be attributed to these remarkable individuals and the culture of excellence they have created. It has truly been an honor and privilege to be a part of this team.”
The Police and Fire Commission is beginning the recruitment process and expects to announce a successor by late summer or early fall. Chief Peterson will remain in his role until a new chief is appointed.
