GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A former U.S. lawmaker is coming to Titletown for a live presentation held in conjunction with UW-Green Bay’s political science program.
“A Conversation with Congressman Adam Kinzinger” is scheduled for 6 p.m. March 5 at The Weidner, located on the UWGB campus. His presentation is part of the “Understanding the Constitution” lecture series.
Wisconsin columnist, radio host and content creator Kristin Brey will moderate the conversation. The event is free and open to the public. Registration is still open.
“We are thrilled to host Congressman Adam Kinzinger and hear from him about the importance of and challenges to the Constitution and how this impacts everyone within our region, state and the nation,” said Aaron Weinschenk, UW-Green Bay director of Social Sciences & Public Policy, in a news release.
Kinzinger will share insights about his concerns for our political system and his experiences on the January 6th Committee during one of the most unique political climates in recent history.
Kinzinger held six terms in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2011-2022, representing 14 counties in northern Illinois. During his time in Congress, he was a member of House committees for Energy and Commerce and Foreign Affairs. He also served on the nonpartisan committee which investigated the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.
Prior to becoming a lawmaker, Kinzinger was in the Air Force, taking part in both Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. Today, he is still a pilot in the Air National Guard, holding the current rank of lieutenant colonel.
Kinzinger is also the New York Times bestselling author of “Renegade: Defending Democracy and Liberty in Our Divided Country.”
