TOWN OF FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The Wisconsin Department of Justice says one person is dead after an officer-involved shooting.
Fond du Lac County sheriff’s deputies were called to the 6300 block of Cherrywood Drive Monday night after receiving information about someone who had a felony warrant. Information from the reporting citizen also said the same person appeared to have a handgun in their waistband.
When deputies made contact with the person, they say the person didn’t follow their commands. One of the deputies fired a non-lethal weapon.
Shortly after, that’s when deputies say the person showed what they believed to be a firearm. In response, a second deputy fired at 6:22 p.m., hitting the individual.
The person was taken to the hospital where they died.
No law enforcement or members of the public were hurt.
The involved deputy is on administrative leave, per agency policy.
