(WTAQ-WLUK) — It was a frigid day out on the ice, as only 24 sturgeon were speared across the Upriver Lakes and Lake Winnebago systems for day 10 of the spearing season.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources in the Lake Winnebago system, 21 sturgeon were speared.
Among those speared, there were five juvenile females, 11 were adult females, and fiver were males.
This brings the season totals in the Lake Winnebago system to 63 juvenile females, 172 adult females, and 147 males.
The amount of sturgeon remaining until the 90% trigger is 189 juvenile females, 473 females and 755 males .
The Upriver Lakes system was not as lucky as its neighbors to the east, as only three male sturgeon were speared.
Today’s report brought the Upriver Lakes season total to 41 juvenile females, 42 adult males, and 199 males.
The number of sturgeon remaining until the 90% trigger is 22, 30, and 26 respectively.
Across both systems, five juvenile females, 11 adult females and eight males were speared.
The season total across both systems is currently 104 juvenile females, 214 adult females, and 346 males.
The number of sturgeon remaining until the 90% trigger for both systems combined is 211, 503 and 781 respectively.
