On Monday, January 6, 2025 at 8|7c the Kids Baking Championship: Amazing Animals premiered on Food Network. This season, twelve young bakers will compete in a series of critter- and creature-inspired challenges for a chance to win $25,000; a feature in Food Network Magazine; and the coveted title of Kids Baking Champion. Pastry chef Duff Goldman (Duff: Ace of Taste) and chef and caterer Kardea Brown (Delicious Miss Brown) will guide the budding bakers along the way, hosting the show and judging the creations that arise during each episode.
Carly Van Pelt, an 11-year-old from Lake Geneva, represents Wisconsin on Kids Baking Championship: Amazing Animals during season 13. She has her own business VP’s Treats where she makes treats for dogs, horses, and humans. Follow along on her Instagram page: https://www.instagram.com/vpstreats/. She shared with Food Network, “I love baking because it’s really fun to make something you know someone else will really enjoy. And this is the perfect season to be on because I love animals. I actually make dog treats.”
In the first episode, a gorgeous parrot named Chicken and a loveable cockatoo named Teva make quite the entrance, as Duff and Kardea welcome the bakers to the jungle-themed kitchen and kick off the ten-episode competition. The challenge: bakers must make an animal texture tart with creature-inspired features like scales, feathers, fur or fins, and an edible tail is a late-breaking twist the bakers must solve in a tasty and creative way.
