FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — One of two men charged in a Fond du Lac murder has pleaded guilty.
Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney says Antonio Johnston pleaded guilty to all eight counts he faced, including being party to the crime of first-degree intentional homicide.
Johnston, now 19, was convicted in the May 7, 2023 shooting that killed Tatyanna Zech at the Maplewood Commons apartment complex.
“Today a defendant took responsibility for his role in a shooting at the Maplewood Commons on May 7, 2023, that took the life of a young woman, who was loved by her family and friends, injured others, and caused a significant impact on the community,” Toney said in a news release. “We will never tolerate gun violence in our community, regardless of the age of a defendant.”
Johnston faces a possible sentence of life in prison. Court records do not indicate a date for the sentencing hearing.
Johnston’s co-defendant, Parise Larry, is scheduled to go on trial Oct. 6.
Two men were also convicted and sentenced for a retaliatory shooting two weeks after the initial murder.
