ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A 20-year veteran of the Ashwaubenon school district will be its next superintendent.
Andrew Bake will take over July 1, the school district announced this week. Bake is currently the district’s curriculum director. He has also served as principal, associate principal and teacher at Valley View Elementary School.
Bake holds a doctorate in educational leadership from Edgewood College, a master’s degree in educational leadership from Marian University and a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.
In a statement, school board president Jennie Vyskocil said she “is excited for this next phase of Ashwaubenon, because Dr. Bake is insightful, organized, and most of all student-centered. We are thrilled to have him at the helm of our district.”
The district released this statement from Bake:
I am honored that the board has selected me to carry on my work with our students, families, staff, administrative team, and board of education to maintain Ashwaubenon’s rich history of excellence in education. Using the strategic plan our community developed last year to guide my work, I look forward to continuing to work tirelessly with our outstanding staff to increase student achievement and maintain an environment that provides opportunities for the success of all of our learners.
Having worked in Ashwaubenon for twenty years as a teacher, building administrator, and district curriculum director, I am humbled to serve as superintendent in the community I love. While I know we will face challenges, I also believe that we can overcome whatever challenges the future may hold through collaboration and a shared focus on our students. I look forward to working together to ensure every Ashwaubenon student will achieve their full potential.
Bake succeeds Kurt Weyers, who is retiring.
