OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A man who allegedly fired a gun off in an Oshkosh firearms store is facing multiple charges.
Officers were dispatched to the 100 block of N. Washburn Street at 8:44 a.m. Thursday for a report that an individual discharged a firearm inside the store and left the scene.
The suspect, a 40-year-old Oshkosh man, was found a short distance away and taken into custody without incident.
Officers learned the suspect had loaded a firearm and discharged it in the store, resulting in property damage.
No one was hurt.
Police say the business, which is not named, implements precautionary measures to secure their firearms, including trigger locks and a cable security system, but the suspect managed to bypass these measures and fire the weapon.
Oshkosh police say they are recommending multiple charges, including endangering safety by use of a dangerous weapon, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He is currently held at the Winnebago County Jail.
