FOREST COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A man is facing several charges in Forest County after fleeing from law enforcement officials.
According to the Forest County Sheriff’s Office, the office received a Teletype from the Brown County Sheriff’s Office advising them of a suicidal subject with active warrants in Brown County who was believed to be armed and possibly in the Forest County area.
Thanks to coordinates obtained on the subject’s cell phone, who was later identified as 45-year-old William Hedrick, officials say deputies traveled to the Township of Alvin and searched the area, finding Hedrick and his car. Deputies confirmed that Hedrick was armed with a handgun and possibly had other firearms inside the car.
Negotiations began with Hedrick but additional law enforcement officers were requested as officials say he was uncooperative.
More officers with the Forest County Sheriff’s Office arrived in an armored vehicle and began negotiating, during which time Hedrick fled further into a heavily wooded area in his car, according to a press release from the office.
Deputies in the armored vehicle pursued the Hedrick and officials say he was taken into custody shortly after driving off. He sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was treated by medical professionals.
Hedrick was arrested and referred to the Foret County District Attorney’s Office on several charges, and his bond was set at $5,000 cash.
