APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The Appleton Police Department says officers were called to an apartment complex for a welfare check.
Police say it happened in the 2400 block of N. Bay St. around 3 PM Friday.
When officers got on scene, they found a person with a gun.
That led to residents in the apartment complex to be evacuated.
The suspect was in contact with officers and negotiators over the phone for several hours due to statements made.
After a few hours, officers eventually went inside the apartment.
That’s where they found the suspect and arrested them.
The suspect was taken to the hospital for further care.
APD is still investigating the incident.
