(GREEN BAY ATHLETICS) GREEN BAY, Wis. – Jenna Guyer finished two points shy of a double-double as the Green Bay women’s basketball triumphed over Wright State Saturday afternoon at the Kress Center.
Guyer had 10 rebounds, a career-high, while tallying eight points. No. 30 has posted a career-high in three consecutive games – in points against Parkside (18) before besting that on Thursday against Northern Kentucky (22), all before recording her best mark on the board this afternoon versus WSU.
Callie Genke finished with a team-best 14 points, while Natalie McNeal and Cassie Schiltz each had 13 points. Jasmine Kondrakiewicz and Miah Meyer also had eight points.
Green Bay moved to 11-5 overall and 4-1 in Horizon League play with the win, while the Raiders dropped to 2-14 overall and 0-6 in conference action.
HOW IT HAPPENED
GB fell behind 5-0 within the first two minutes but recovered well, going on a 7-0 spurt capped by a Genke three to take a 7-5 lead with 5:48 to go in the opening quarter. WSU’s defense forced some tough shots from Green Bay, but a Meyer jumper late in the frame gave GB a 15-13 advantage after 10 minutes of play. The Raiders stayed within arm’s length of the Green and White until Guyer drilled a triple with 5:01 left before halftime, extending Green Bay’s lead to seven at 26-19. A slow but methodical first half ended with a McNeal jumper, with Green Bay going into the locker room with a 31-22 lead.

The Phoenix opened the second half with the ball and got a three from Genke, extending the lead to a dozen at 34-22 with 9:43 remaining in the third period. GB would lead by double figures for the rest of the game. GB was on cruise control in the fourth quarter, getting early buckets from Kondrakiewicz before going up by 19 on a Bailey Butler jumper. The Phoenix never looked back and extended its winning streak to four, the longest of the season, with a 69-51 victory over Wright State.
