(GREEN BAY ATHLETICS) HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Green Bay men’s basketball team shot 50 percent from three-point range but fell to the Northern Kentucky Norse 78-60 on the road Saturday. The Phoenix was within single digits late, but the Norse ended the game on a 12-2 run.
The Phoenix (2-15, 0-6) had two players score in double figures, led by Marcus Hall, who had 19 points. Preston Ruedinger added 13 points, and six assists and Mac Wrecke added eight points and two steals.
Northern Kentucky was led by a 24-point performance off the bench from Josh Dilling, who shot 6-for-8 from three and also finished with eight rebounds and four assists. Trey Robinson and Sam Vinson also finished in double figures, scoring 17 and 10 points respectively.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After falling behind 16-8, Green Bay rattled off a 15-0 run starting at the 12-minute mark in the first half to take a 23-16 lead after three made free throws from Ben Tweedy. The hosts would respond however, outscoring Green Bay 17-8 during the final seven minutes of the half to head into halftime with a 33-31 lead.
After falling behind by six, the Phoenix tied the game up at 44 all after a pair of made threes from Wrecke and Ruedinger. The Green & White was unable to get over that hump, as Northern Kentucky clamped down defensively and cruised to the 78-60 win.

» The Phoenix knocked down 13-of-26 shots from deep.
» The Phoenix recorded an assist on 81 percent of made baskets, finishing with 17 on 21 made shots.
» Wright State won the rebounding battle 38-25.
» Neither team controlled the paint, with WSU scoring 18 points in the paint compared to GB s 16.
» Green Bay got a team-high five rebounds from Preston Ruedinger.

The Phoenix will have a chance to regroup this week before its rivalry showdown with Milwaukee on Saturday at 3 p.m.
