NEW LISBON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Authorities are releasing new details about the victims in a triple-homicide in Juneau County, as law enforcement continues to search for the “armed and dangerous” suspect.
It started just after 10 p.m. Sunday, when the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department asked the Juneau County Sheriff’s Office to help them find a missing juvenile. Police say the missing juvenile from Monroe County was picked up and last seen with 47-year-old Virgil Thew.
Around 7:40 a.m. Monday, while searching for the juvenile, the New Lisbon Police Department was made aware of a second missing juvenile in their jurisdiction. Hours later, just before 4:30 p.m., two juveniles and an adult female were found dead inside a New Lisbon home in the 300 block of W. Bridge Street.
The Juneau County Sheriff’s Office identified the adult woman Friday as Elizabeth Kolba. The names of the juvenile victims are being withheld; however, they were identified as females, ages and 12 and 13.
Police have not confirmed whether the two girls found dead inside the home were the juveniles reported missing, nor have they said what Thew’s relationship was to the three victims.
A days-long manhunt is still underway for Thew, who law enforcement believes to be responsible for the triple-homicide. He is described as a white male, 5’11” tall and weighing 160 pounds, with blue eyes and brown hair. He has a 1″ long scar on his forehead.
Thew is considered armed and dangerous. He is wanted through Wisconsin Probation and Parole and is now wanted for three counts of first degree intentional homicide.
There have been two confirmed sightings of Thew in the New Lisbon area, but despite extensive searches of the area by ground and drone, law enforcement has not been able to locate him. It is believed Thew may have left the area.
The public is asked to contact law enforcement with any information regarding Thew’s whereabouts. If you see him, do not approach him; simply dial 911.
