FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Community members who lost loved ones to opioid overdoses are taking action to help prevent more deaths.
Local families are donating “overdose aid kits” to Fond du Lac businesses and organizations. Officials say the kits will provide the community with access to life-saving resources at no cost.
“They are a tool we intend to use to combat the opioid crisis and provide immediate assistance to our residents who are in need or at risk of overdose,” a news release states.
In 2023, Fond du Lac County saw 24 overdose deaths. Fentanyl was present in 87% of those incidents, and 65% contained an opioid/stimulant combination, which authorities call “a growing nationwide trend.”
