APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A commercial building in Appleton suffered $120,000 in damages after a fire Thursday afternoon.
The Appleton Fire Department responded to the 700 block of West Parkway Blvd. around 2:35 p.m. for a structure fire. When crews arrived, they observed moderate smoke coming from the roof and fire coming out of a broken window.
Two hoses were used to control the fire, which was brought under control within 10 minutes.
During the initial fire attack, the fire department received a report that there may be one occupant unaccounted for. Crews also initiated a quick search, concluding that the structure was clear within 15 minutes.
A cause has not yet been determined. Damage to the building and its contents is estimated at $120,000.
Officials say the commercial structure was comprised of three occupancies. One suffered smoke, water and fire damage, and the other two suffered smoke and limited water damage.
AFD reminds residents to invest in renter’s insurance — “a cost effective way to get re-established, should a fire occur.”
