MARINETTE COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A fatal crash in Marinette County on Christmas Eve.
Marinette County Sheriff Randy Miller reports that at 7:35 p.m. on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, Marinette County Dispatch received an iPhone crash detection call.
Shortly after, it reported there was a one-vehicle crash on County Highway X near Silver Creek Road in the Town of Stephenson.
The investigation indicates the vehicle was operated by Chase M. Cutty, of Crivitz, Wisconsin.
Cutty was traveling west of County Highway X when he began to pass another vehicle in the no passing zone. He lost control while passing, went into the ditch, and struck several trees.
Reports say he was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected during the crash. He sustained fatal injuries.
Speed and alcohol are believed to have been factors in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
