FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Convicted killer Taylor Schabusiness faces a new charge for allegedly assaulting a sergeant at the Taycheedah Correctional Institution.
A battery by prisoner count was filed last month for the July 24 incident. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 7, court records show.
Schabusiness, 27, is serving a life sentence after being convicted of the murder and sexual assault of Shad Thryion in February 2022.
According to the criminal complaint, Schabusiness needed care from a nurse after falling on a staple, which lodged in her arm. The sergeant — who is labelled “VICTIM” in the complaint — escorted her to the medical room.
“The nurse got the tray and started to get the tweezers to take out the staple. That is when Taylor lunged at the nurse. VICTIM said she went and got Taylor down so the nurse was able to exit the room. VICTIM said Taylor continued to struggle with the tray that the nurse had. VICTIM had said earlier that her head was hit but was not concussed, that she had bruised ribs, and pointed to her arm saying that it hurt. It should be noted, VICTIM was also exposed to the OC spray when Taylor was sprayed during the altercation,” the complaint states.
“WITNESS said she remembered Taylor was chuckling the whole time and WITNESS asked Taylor what was so funny. Taylor then responded nothing was funny. WITNESS said she told Taylor that it might hurt a little bit and she took the tweezers to get it out and as soon as she made contact with the tweezers to the staple, Taylor grabbed her arm and pushed WITNESS out of the way. Taylor then lunged out of the chair. WITNESS said she heard the tray too and then at that point she went for help,” the complaint states.
Taylor told the officer “when the nurse pulled the staple out she jumped and hit her because the staple caused Taylor pain. Taylor did not remember anything after that,” the complaint states.
