OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — UW-Oshkosh unveiled a voluntary retirement incentive options program in an effort to make cuts.
The Voluntary Retirement Incentive Options Program (VRIOP) is being offered to 57 eligible faculty members.
The program is open only to full-time faculty members who are eligible for retirement and come from programs that can absorb the loss of positions without compromising the academic mission of the university.
After official contact from UWO Human Resources next week, the eligible employees will have into early 2025 to make final decisions.
This new program helps UWO make another significant stride toward long-term fiscal sustainability, preventing layoffs, furloughs and program closures.
The announcement comes before the Universities of Wisconsin Board of Regents meetings in Madison this week in which UWO’s and other universities’ progress in closing structural deficits will be discussed.
