SHEBOYGAN, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A police officer was injured in a rollover crash Sunday night while attempting to stop a speeding vehicle.
It happened on the northeast side of Sheboygan shortly before 8:15 p.m.
Authorities say the officer activated the squad car’s emergency lights and sirens, but the suspect’s vehicle fled.
“As the officer was trying to locate the suspect vehicle, the suspect vehicle failed to stop for a two-way stop sign and struck the officer’s squad, causing it to roll over,” a news release states.
Behind the wheel was a 25-year-old Sheboygan man, who remained on scene after the crash. He was arrested on numerous charges, including fleeing and eluding an officer, operating with a restricted controlled substance and failing to stop for a stop sign.
The officer suffered minor injuries in the crash. He was cared for at and released from an area hospital.
The man driving the suspect vehicle, along with its two other occupants, also received minor injuries, but declined treatment.
